OBA Next is OpenBox Athletics' youth fitness program, designed to help kids get stronger, build confidence, develop physical skills, and have fun being active. Through age-appropriate fitness, sports, gymnastics, games, and other movement-based activities, kids learn how to move well while developing the skills they can carry into sports and everyday life.
Our coaches create a supportive environment where kids are encouraged to try new things, celebrate progress, and learn alongside their peers. OBA Next is built around the idea that fitness should be something kids enjoy—not something they have to be forced to do.
Kids develop coordination, balance, strength, and other fundamental movement skills while gaining confidence in what their bodies can do.
From obstacle courses and gymnastics to team-based activities and games, every class gives kids a chance to move, play, and have fun.
Our coaches are CrossFit-certified, experienced working with a broad range of athletes, and focused on creating a safe, positive environment. Participating coaches are also background-checked.
OBA Next helps kids develop more than physical skills. They learn teamwork, communication, encouragement, and how to be part of a community.
We want kids to leave OBA Next feeling successful, capable, and excited to come back. The goal isn't to create young athletes for the sake of competition—it's to help kids build a foundation for a lifetime of movement and fitness.
Our regular OBA Next classes combine age-appropriate fitness, skill development, games, and team activities in an encouraging environment.
Kids are introduced to a variety of sports and fitness activities with a focus on skill-building and teamwork. Every session is designed to keep kids active, engaged, and progressing at their own pace.
OBA Next Kids Classes are currently designed for children ages 6–12.
Classes are approximately 45 minutes long and are offered:
OBA Next is held exclusively at 1931 Washington Avenue.
For families looking for more than a weekly fitness class, OBA Next also offers an After School Program that combines school pickup, structured play or homework time, and the OBA Next fitness experience.
OBA Next takes the best parts of the OBA Next class experience and expands it to include school pickup and supervised time before class.
Following pickup, our team will bring participants back to OpenBox Athletics for a snack and structured play or homework time. At 4:00 PM, the regular OBA Next class will take place.
Pickup begins at the end of the OBA Next class and runs through 6:00 PM. Any pickup after OBA Next is over will take place in our 1935 Washington studio room, where participants can relax, play, and await guardian pickup.
The OBA Next After School Program runs three days per week:
Monday / Wednesday / Friday
The program follows Philadelphia School District holidays, in-service dates, and half days as closely as possible with minimal deviation. However, if there is no bell at 3:20 PM, assume there will be no After School pickup that day.
Yes. Families registered for the OBA Next After School Program receive access to all OBA Next classes, including classes outside of the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday After School schedule.
